Laura Fletcher
Biography
Laura Fletcher has worked in HIV care teams and research for the past 4 years of her career and has valuable experience and insight into potential new areas for research as well as developing and executing projects that focus on individuals living with HIV. Laura graduated from Boston University with a dual degree Master’s in Clinical Social Work and a Master’s in Public Health.
Laura’s skill set will be invaluable to the Providence/Boston CFAR C- CERC. Laura believes that “access to high quality health care is a human right and believes that all individuals deserve to have the tools to they need to engage in their own health care decisions as well as feel supported and cared for by their team members. In order to continue to provide the highest quality care to all individuals, we must ensure that those whose social determinants of health, whether they be substance use disorder, a trauma history, housing insecurity, or any other host of challenges that exist, have equal access to care as those whose social determinants of health allow them to live a healthier life.
In order to ensure that HIV research is addressing the actual needs of the community members, it is critical that organizations like CFAR provide guidance around how to best move HIV research forward. I believe that through my experience working with individuals living with HIV coupled with my skills gained from both my social work career as well as my public health career, I can help CFAR continue to do great work.”
