The K Award Mentoring Program features a structured proposal development curriculum defined by milestone-driven progress and formal review by experienced CFAR faculty with strong track records in mentorship and successful funding.
The program begins six months prior to the NIH deadline for a given cycle. At that time, participants identify a primary mentor aligned with their career goals and objectives and formally enroll in the program. Two months later, participants present their specific aims at the first of two workshops, in collaboration with their mentor, and refine the specific aims based on feedback provided during the workshop. After an additional two months, participants submit a full proposal for formal review and further input at the second workshop to strengthen their application.
