
Whitney Irie
Biography
Dr. Whitney Irie is an implementation scientist and the Associate Director of the HIV, Infectious Disease, and Global Health Implementation Research Institute (HIGH-IRI), where she also serves as faculty for the African HIGH-IRI programs in Zambia and South Africa. She is an Associate Editor for Implementation Science Communications, co-leading the journal’s Protocols section. Her research focuses on advancing equitable HIV prevention and care for women, with a particular emphasis on PrEP uptake and sexual health among Black women in the United States. Dr. Irie’s work bridges domestic and global contexts, centering community-engaged and equity-driven implementation approaches. Dr. Irie holds a doctoral degree from the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis and a master’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She also completed an NIH-funded postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard Medical School.
